Meet Diana Lichaa

Solicitor and Practice Manager at Falzon Legal

Being With People at Their Worst … And Their Best

In Diana’s busy roles as Solicitor and Practice Manager at Falzon Legal, there’s definitely no shortage of paperwork, scheduling, and legal technicalities to sort. But what drives her, though, isn’t the administrative side of the job. It’s the people.

Reassuringly standing by her client’s side during some of the most emotional and vulnerable moments of their lives, Diana brings a rare yet welcome combination of practical clear-headedness, genuine empathy, and extensive local understanding.

Her approach is straightforward. People who are facing difficult family transitions or estate challenges don’t need confusing jargon, never-ending tactical letter-writing, or unnecessary conflict. They just want someone who will listen, treat them with respect, and guide them toward a swift, comforting resolution.

And for Diana, that’s the part of being a lawyer that matters most: helping someone through the tougher times and seeing them come out the other side happier, stronger, and ready to move on.

You help people when they’re at their worst, and by the time the matter’s finished, you see them happy again. You see them strong again. That’s the best feeling there is.

Diana’s Journey – Finding Where She Belonged

Beginning Her Career With Falzon Legal

Western Sydney University

Sometimes in life, the right path isn’t the most direct one. And that’s something that Diana knows first-hand.

Back in 2020, while studying Law and Business at Western Sydney University, she joined Paul and the team at Falzon Legal as a paralegal. It gave her an early introduction to Family Law and Estate Law. And, perhaps more importantly, to the very people affected by those life-changing legal matters.

Quickly, Diana found how much she enjoyed client-facing work. Instead of tackling a theoretical legal problem from a distance, Diana could actually sit down with someone, see what was happening in their life, and help them navigate their way through it.

Yet, an important question was hanging around in the back of her mind. Was this the area of law she wanted to build her future career around?

Sometimes, You Have To Leave To Know

At university, Diana had consistently performed well in commercial subjects, and often thought that commercial law must be where she would ultimately end up. She decided she needed to find out for sure, so she left Falzon Legal and joined a construction law firm, letting her experience a very different kind of legal work.

And it taught her something absolutely priceless. She missed people.

The transactional nature of the commercial work just didn’t give her the same connection and satisfaction she’d found helping the clients at Falzon Legal. There wasn’t an opportunity to spend time with someone, grasp what they were going through, and see the difference you could make in their life.

There’s an old adage, ‘If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it’s yours. If it doesn’t, it never was.’ Ok, chances are it probably wasn’t written about lawyers changing firms. But for Diana, it was surprisingly appropriate.

Far from convincing her that she’d chosen the wrong path, leaving Falzon Legal for a short while did exactly the opposite. It gave her certainty. She’d tried something different, seen a totally different side of the profession, and it showed her exactly where she wanted to be.

So, she returned to Falzon Legal.

Running the Firm, Running the Cases

As Practice Manager, Diana helps keep the entire firm operating smoothly every single day. That means overseeing everything from onboarding and invoicing to the systems, procedures and people that hold a growing legal practice together.

And as a solicitor, she brings that same practical, organised approach to her own clients, practising across Family Law and Estate Law, including litigation.
And the two roles naturally overlap.

Working closely with Falzon Legal’s Client Success Manager, Diana helps ensure every client is properly looked after from the very moment they first reach out; instead of just becoming another file on a solicitor’s desk.

Because, however busy Falzon Legal becomes, Diana is determined that no client ever feels like they’ve been left behind.

Home-Grown, Right Here in Western Sydney

Western Sydney is home for Diana.

She grew up in Granville, studied at Western Sydney University, and spent most of her life surrounded by the amazing families, cultures, and communities that make this part of Sydney so wonderful.

After time working in the city, Diana saw first-hand the contrast between different approaches to legal practice: how clients can feel overwhelmed by legal language or unsure about what’s happening with their matter.

Since no one should leave their solicitor’s office feeling confused, intimidated, or embarrassed because they didn’t quite understand a bit of legal talk. Diana wants you to feel comfortable and ask the questions that are important to you.

If something doesn’t make sense, she’ll explain it. If you’re worried, she’ll listen. And, if a complicated legal issue can be explained in simple terms, then she knows there is absolutely no reason to make it sound ridiculously complicated. Let’s face it, understanding your lawyer shouldn’t mean you need to take a degree in law yourself.

Beyond the Office

Away from her office, there’s one place you’ll frequently find Diana, and that’s being surrounded by her family, friends, and loved ones.

She loves eating out, discovering cafés and restaurants, travelling, and occasionally attempting a dance class (something Diana freely admits she does for enjoyment rather than any great expectation of becoming a professional dancer!).

And, she adores making things. Diana and her sister have a small hobby business which creates lovely personalised gifts, such as bridesmaid boxes, glasses, mugs and notebooks.

Above all else, she delights in exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and spending time with the people who are closest to her. Whether she’s at work or away from it, relationships remain a pretty constant theme … family really matters to Diana.

Family Isn’t Only an Area of Law

Since family is such a massive part of Diana’s life, it’s not really a surprise that she was drawn back into Family Law.

She grew up surrounded by a wonderfully loving, large, close-knit family, with cousins, relatives, and generations all regularly coming together. Relationships aren’t something Diana comes across in her client files; they’re something she values immensely in her own life.

Diana knows that:

  • Families are complicated.
  • People love each other, yet they can disagree.
  • Relationships can change.
  • Generations see things differently.
  • There can be disputes.
  • Money and property can bring unexpected tensions.
  • And beneath a straightforward legal problem, there can be years, or even decades, of history.

With genuine consideration, Diana listens to what’s happened, what’s important to you, and what your life looks like when the legal matter is behind you.
